Analysis On Tree Method Of Gong Xian’s Landscape Painting

Gong Xian, the famous landscape painter of Qing Dynasty,"ranks the first in EightGiants of Jinling. The ups and downs of life experiences make him more open-mindedin vision, tireless pursuit of the arts ensures his brilliant achievements in landscapepainting, and his unique landscape art is special scenery of the history of Chineselandscape painting. Gong Xian, on one hand, imitating the ancients, taking Mr.Mi’s inkusage as a model, relying on Dong Yuan, Wu Zhen’s brushwork, with the theory ofDong Qichang, Huang Gonggwang’s ideology, fuses merits of each painter. On theother hand, he advocates innovation, and believes that the art of painting origins fromnature and has its own ideas in order to achieve the principle "I have to use my method".So distinctive painting style makes him unique compared to other painters of the sameperiod. Gong Yin evaluates himeself "unprecedented, and no latecomers", and now wecan see from his art of painting that this comment is not an exaggeration.This paper studies the tree method and its characteristics of the landscape paintingby GongXian. As we all know, GongXian’s painting is "distinctive", and his drawing oftrees is unique and out of the ordinary. He recorded painting methods of each tree in《KeTuGao》and《HuaYuLu》. From the first stroke, he recorded errors occurred inpainting thoroughly and details should be paid attention to in the painting process.，His works is favorable textbook for beginners to learn and copy, and also a valuablefirst-hand information which helps us to study tree method characteristics. this lessontakes 《KeTuGao》and《HuaYuLu》as a clue, and begins with the first stroke of a tree,from one tree to a clump, from one kind to the different kinds of trees, from the treeunder the sun to tree in a misty rain clouds, through detailed analysis of treecharacteristics and drawing characteristics, trying to spy on the relationships betweentrees and rocks, trees and water, trees and spring room. with the accentuating of theseimages, it seems that the verdant trees look more dense, the jungle behind the house looks increasingly distant, and looming foliage of clouds is covered with a cloak ofmystery......The tree method relates to the artistic effect of the whole picture,and the success orfailure of the tree affects the success or failure of the whole painting. The author hopeswith the detailed comprehensive analysis of Gong Yin’s tree method,to summarize histree method characteristics, and combining with contemporary performance practices, toexplore the principle of the performance of the tree method, and to expect eventually tobe able to realize the perfect combination of theory and practice, and finally to put itinto application of our own works.
