Nowadays, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have become anindispensible part of global politics and economics. With the accelerated process ofglobalization and the deepening of China’s opening up and reform policy, InternationalNGOs (INGOs) are streaming into China and domestic NGOs are playing a greaterrole on the global stage. In order to publicize themselves and exchange programexperience and outcomes, NGOs produce relevant reports and thus there is anincreasing demand for the translation of NGO reports. However, the translation ofNGO reports is far from being satisfactory. In addition, studies on the translation ofNGO reports which are generally acknowledged as systematic and in-depth are quitefew at present. This study, based on a small corpus of30NGO reports collected, summarizes andanalyzes the functions and stylistic features of NGO reports with both qualitative andquantitative approaches. It then takes the author’s translation practice as a case study,in which a thorough analysis of translation brief and the source text from bothextratextual and intratextual factors is conducted under the Nord’s text analysis modeland translation methods are put forward at different levels.
