| Verb is such a vital part for sentence making that the well-known Chinese linguist LV Shuxiang once emphasized its significance as "the core of a sentence". Therefore, teaching Chinese verbs, as one of the most important parts of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is of practical significance for L2learners to analyze the errors of Chinese verbs. This thesis focuses on comparison between Chinese verbs and Thai verbs, concluding the types of error Thai students made in using Chinese verbs and profound analysis on reasons of these errors.Error of Chinese verbs for Thai students is mainly divided into the following two types:one is the misusing of Chinese verbs, which includes misusing verbs as nouns or adjectives, misusing transitive verb as intransitive verb or vice versa, misusing verbs that are supposed to be with objectives, misusing Chinese separable verb-object verbs. The other type of error is syntactic misuse related with verbs, which includes errors related with adverbial or complements. This thesis reaches deeply into the reasons of the errors of Chinese verbs besides conclusion and classification of the errors. With the reasons that students’incapacity of classifying the parts of speech, neglect of the grammatical functions and direct translation from mother tongue into target language, it is difficult for them avoid misusing Chinese verbs. Moreover, complicated usage of Chinese words also contributes to confusion and error making. |
