The compound TCM-Xiongma Soup is derived from "SengJiZongLu". The complementary use of two herbs made a nicer curative effect in treating headache. We choose Xiongma Soup which is proved to clear efficacy by abundant clinical evidence as object and analyzed its "Spectrum-effect Relationship".Object:Searching the effective extracts of TCM-Xiongma Soup and turn it into "Fewer & Better" small compound which is not only strictly obey the law of Traditional Chinese Medicine, but also have clear components and irreplaceable clinical efficacy.Method:First of all, according to its different physical properties, we extracted Xiongma Soup to water extract, alcohol extract and volatile oil. Then, we selected effective extracts of the three extracts by a series of experiments, and analyzed effective extracts by HPLC&GC-MS, and then related the chemical components and their role in the relative efficacy. Results:Through a series of experiments, we select two effective extracts of Xiongma Soup--water extract and volatile oil. The water extract is effective on enhances serum 5-HT concentration and anti-inflammatory. The volatile oil is effective on abirritation. Analyzed by HPLC, we found that the water extract contain ferulic acid and tetramethylpyrazine which are the active ingredients of single herb Chuanxiong, gastrodin which is the active ingredients of single herb Tianma. Analyzed by GC-MS, we found that the components in Xiongma Soup volatile oil are mainly from single herb Chuanxiong, the number of volatile chemical components in Xiongma Soup is almost equal to the sum of the number in the two single herbs, and the content of volatile oil components in the compound changed. Conclusion:Glycoside (such as gastrodin), organic acid (such as ferulic acid) and alkaloid (such as tetramethylpyrazine) are probably the active ingredients of TCM--Xiongma Soup in the treatment of migraine or anti-inflammatory, and the main components of Chuanxiong volatile oil are probably the active ingredients in the treatment of abirritation.
