The Artabotrys is the member of the Annonaceae family. There are 100 kinds of plants of Artabotrys which distributed in tropical and subtropical in the world. The plants of the genus Artabotrys have been used to treat antitumor, antifungal, anti-HIV and antioxidant. Previous phytochemical studies on the genus Artabotrys have led to the isolation and identification of alkaloids, flavonoids, lignans, terpenoids and various types of compounds. But so far, research is more that on chemical composition and pharmacological activity of Artabotrys genus growing in our country. The Artabotrys pilosus belongs to the family Annonaceae and the genus Artabotrys. Artabotrys pilosus only grow in Hainan Province of china. Until now, there is no reasearch on Artabotrys pilosus except our team. For further development and utilization the medicinal value, clarify its efficacy material base of Artabotrys genus, this study is systemic research on the phytochemical composition of Artabotrys pilosus. The extract of the stems and leaves of A. pilosus were purified by means of silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20, preparative thin layer chromatography, recrystallization and semi-preparative HPLC separation method, using physical and chemical properties and NMR, MS, UV to identify their chemical structures. Two new compounds(1 and2) and 23 known compounds(3–25) were isolated from the stems and leaves of the A. Pilosus. The compounds were identified as: 12,14-ace-16-hydroxy-2,3-(methylenedioxy)acephenanthrene(1), 14-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2,3-(methylenedioxy)phenanthrene(2), chlospicate E(3), arbisabol-9-en-7,11-diol(4), 4-hydroxy-4,7-dimethyl-1-tetralone(5), oxyphyllone D(6),10β-hydroxyisodauc-6-en-14-al(7), guaianediol(8), 10β, 15-hydroxy-α-cadinol(9), 10α-hydroxycadin-4-en-15-al(10), 15-hydroxy-t-muurolol(11), 1β,6α-dihydroxy-4α(15)-epoxyeudesmane(12), 7-trinoreudesma-4(15), 8-dien-1β-ol-7-one(13), 7-oxo-β-sitosterol(14),6α-hydroxycampest-4-en-3-one(15), 6α-hydroxy-stigmasta-4,22-diene-3-one(16), tigmast-4-ene-6α-ol-3-one(17), dammaradienyl acetate(18), friedelinol(19), friedelin(20),α-spinasterone(21), stigmast-7-en-3β-ol(22), stigmastan-3, 6-dione(23), stigmasterol(24) andβ-sitosterol(25).Compounds 1 and 2 were new compounds, Compounds 3, 6 and 13-23 were isolated from the genus Artabotrys for the first time. All compounds were isolated from A. pilosus for the first time. The cytotoxicities of compounds 1-13 were tested against five cancer cell lines—HL-60,A549, SMMC-7721, MCF-7 and SW480, compounds 1-3 and 5-13 showed significant inhibitory effects.
