Objectives: To explore the effects of the caregiving burden-related intervention on the quality of life of Uyghur and Kazakh disability elderly and caregivers’ burden. Methods: In this quasi-experimental design study, the participants were recruited from the first part of baseline database, allocated to an intervention-or a control group(100,respectively) by region. The intervention group received 12-months access to an integrated intervention including home visits, telephone follow-ups and given care instruction handbook. The control group merely received care instruction handbook. The Independent-Samples T Test, Paired-Samples T Test and repeated measures ANOVA were used to compare pre-to post intervention differences within and between groups. Results: 1. Before the intervention, general information of both groups had no statistical significance(P < 0.05). 2. The scores of caregiver burden of both groups had no statistic differences at the beginning of intervention(P>0.05). The caregivers in intervention group had lower care burden than the control group at the 8, 12-month follow-up(P<0.05), and existed the interaction effect between group factor and time factor( P<0.001). 3. The scores of quality of life and its each dimension of both groups had no statistic differences at the beginning of intervention(P>0.05). The disability in intervention group had higher quality of life and its each dimension than the control group at the 4, 8, 12-month follow-up(P<0.05),and existed the interaction effect between group factor and time factor( P<0.001).Discussion: The findings suggest that the caregiving burden-related intervention can increase the quality of life of Uyghur and Kazakh disability elderly and relieve caregiver burden overall.
