Objective:To investigate the hope level and influencing factors in patients with breast cancer.Methods:Totally 240 breast cancer patients and spouses were recruited through convenience sampling method from a tertiary level first class hospital in Xinjiang.They were investigated with the Herth Hope Index( HHI) 、Social Support Rating Scale( SSRS) 、Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale for Adults(MUIS—A) and Marital Satisfaction Subscales. Used the descriptive analysis to evaluate the hope level of breast cancer patients and spouses and analyzed the influencing factors based on t-test, rank correlation, variance analysis, and multiple linear regression.Results:The average level of hope in patients with breast cancer was(36.53±3.27), temporality and future, positive readiness and expectancy, interconnectedness were(11.77±1.39)、(12.92±1.52)、(11.85±1.18);The average level of hope in spouses was(37.27±3.05), the dimension scores were(12.16±1.29)、(13.14±1.46)、(11.97±1.13). There were no difference on total hope level between patients and their spouses.The average level of social support in patients with breast cancer was(44.28±6.26), Breast cancer patients show mid-high level of hope. Mishel uncertainty in illness was(90.59±9.56), it shows mid level.Marital satisfaction was(28.62±4.09), it is lower than normal. Scores of the total scale of hope of patients and their spouses were positively correlated with social support, negative correlated with mishel uncertainty in illnessCultural degree、social support、mishel uncertainty in illness and marital satisfaction subscales all played a role of hope level. Cultural degree、social support and marital satisfaction subscales were significant influencing factors of hope level, which could explain 15.4 percent of the variation.Conclusion:Breast cancer patients and spouses show mid-high level of hope. There were no difference on total hope level between patients and their spouses. Patients’ cultural degree、treatment stage and social support. were significant influencing factors of hope level.The higher cultural degree, the higher hope level.The hope level of premastectomy patients is higher than postmastectomy. The more social support, the higher hope level.
