ObjectiveTo investigate the serum expression of thymidine kinase 1(TK1), Cytokeratin 19 fragment(CYFRA21-1) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients,and its relationship with clinicopathologic features,and to explore the diagnostic value of combined detection of both in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. MethodsThe serum levels of TK1 and CYFRA21-1 were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay( ELISA) in 42 patients with head neck squamous cell carcinoma and in 20 patients with precancerous lesions and in 20 healthy people. Results1、Serum TK1 and CYFRA21-1 expression level of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinomas were significantly higher than those of precancerous lesions and health people. Difference were statistically significant(P<0.01). Serum TK1 expression level of precancerous lesions was higher than that of health people, but no significant difference.2、Serum TK1 and CYFRA21-1 expression level had relevance with the clinical stage(P<0.01), rose while the clinical stage increased, but both have nothing to do with pathological grading(P>0.05).3、About HNSCC diagnosing sensitivity, TK1 was 76.2% and Cyfra21-1 was 59.5%, while it would rise to 95.2% when they were combined, obviously higher than single use. Difference were statistically significant(P<0.05) Conclusion1、Serum TK1 and CYFRA21-1 expression level of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinomas are significantly higher than those of precancerous lesions and health people.TK1 and CYFRA21-1 take part in HNSCC generating process, can be used as diagnostic indicators of it.2、Serum TK1 and CYFRA21-1 expression level of HNSCC rise along with the increase of the clinical stage, but have nothing to do with pathological grading. This suggests that Serum TK1 and CYFRA21-1 expression level can reflect the progress of HNSCC.3、Combined application of TK1 and CYFRA21-1 can increases diagnosis sensitivity of HNSCC compared with single use. This mode has important clinical value in the diagnosis and early predictiontreatment of HNSCC.
