Clinical Observation Of Intervention For Hyperuricemia With Phlegm-dampness Constitution By Comprehensive Chinese Medical Treatment

Objective:To explore the effectiveness, security and feasibility of the comprehensive Chinese medical treatment on patients of hyperuricemia associated with phlegm-dampness constitution by the observation of the changes of Body Mass Index, the level of serum uric acid and the scores of phlegm-dampness constitution transformation.Methods:60 patients of hyperuricemia associated with phlegm-dampness constitution were collected and randomly divided into Group A(intervention group) and Group B(control group) with 30 cases in each. In Group A, the comprehensive Chinese medical treatment was given on the basis of lifestyle interventions(diet and exercise), which was the only intervention used in Group B. After 6 weeks of intervention, the contents of the observation for both groups included the changes of the Body Mass Index, the level of serum uric acid and the scores of phlegm-dampness constitution transformation. And the outcome dates were treated by statistical process.Results:1. After the intervention, the decrease of the level of serum uric acid was found in both two groups with significant difference(P<0.01), and the result in Group A was better than that in Group B with significant difference(P<0.05).2. After the intervention, the scores of phlegm-dampness constitution transformation in both two groups were better than before with significant difference(P<0.05 or P<0.01). However, there was no significant difference in the scores of phlegm-dampness constitution transformation between the two groups after the intervention.3. The Body Mass Index after the intervention was lower than before in both Group A and Group B, but the result has no significant difference.4. There was no significant difference on the lab index of liver and kidney function in the two groups before and after the intervention.Conclusion:The comprehensive Chinese medical treatment can reduce the level of serum uric acid for hyperuricemia patients associated with phlegm-dampness constitution and has a good role in adjusting pathologic constitution with good safety.
