The Study Of Regularities Within Prescriptions Of Zuwang Gan For Chronic Pharyngitis

ObjectiveUsing the data mining software TCMISS (Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance System) to analyze the regularities within the 101 prescriptions of Zuwang Gan for chronic pharyngitis. Expecting the conclusion may help expanding the influence of famous doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, developing the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine.MethodsAs for literature research, the current situation of Chronic pharyngitis such as etiology, pathology, diagnosis and treatments will be shown in this study. And the theory of Chronic pharyngitis in traditional Chinese medicine is as well introduced. In this way, the differences of western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine are clearly shown.In the data mining part, the ingredients of the 101 prescriptions are input into TCMISS, using the statistical function (including analysis of frequency, association and cluster) to analyze the data. Extracting the mostly-used herbal ingredients, highly-related pairs of ingredients.ResultsAccording to the data, we discover that the spleen-deficiency type of cases(43.6%) are mostly seen in Chronic pharyngitis, followed by lung-deficiency(25.7%).In the research of the flavor and character of herbal ingredients, the mostly used flavor and character are listed as follow:sweet-cold(361), bitter-cold (247), sweet-average (202), sweet-warm(123).From the classification of the herbal ingredients, the tonifying herds are mostly used(31.74%), followed by heat-clearing herbs(26.97).The mostly-used herbs are herbs that can supply for the deficiency (31.74%) and herbs that can clear the heat away (26.97%).For regularities, Codonopsis pilosula and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae and Poria coco, Semen Dolichoris and Poria coco, Rhizoma Dioscoreae and Poria Coco, Platycodon Grandiflorum and Radix liquiritiae are the top 5 highly-related pairs of herbs.In the same time, we discover that Professor Gan tend to use herds with the function of heat-clearing and body fluid enriching to relief the acute symptoms of Chronic pharyngitis.Conclusion1. TCMISS makes the characters of TCM consilia visible and digital, proving that it is an effective way to research TCM consilia.2. Professor Gan prefers the method called "strengthening Earth support Metal" to treat chronic pharyngitis. The mostly-used herbs can strengthen the Spleen and enrich body fluid, including Codonopsis pilosula, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Poria coco, Semen Dolichoris, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Platycodon Grandiflorum, Radix liquiritiae.
