Enteral Nutrition Combined With Preoperative Chemotherapy And Surgery For Patients With Gastric Outlet Obstruction Caused By Gastric Cancer

ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical value and safety of the therapy which was enteral tube feeding and preoperative chemotherapy followed by surgery for patients with gastric outlet obstruction caused by gastric cancer.MethodsPatients with gastric outlet obstruction caused by gastric cancer treated with enteral nutrition and preoperative chemotherapy from 2009.1 to 2014.9 followed by surgery were analyzed retrospectively. The body weight,BMI,total serum protein,serum albumin and GOOSS were examined before and after enteral nutrition.We evaluated the incidence of the toxicity and postoperative complications.ResultsThe patients showed a significant improvement in the level of total serum protein,serum albumin and GOOSS after enteral nutrition support.The incidence of the grade 3/4 toxicity and postoperative complications were 23.9% and 14.1%,respectively.ConclusionEnteral nutrition support can improve the nutritional status.The therapy which was enteral nutrition and preoperative chemotherapy followed by surgery is safe and effective for patients with gastric outlet obstruction caused by gastric cancer.
