Objective:To evaluate the cosmetic and functional outcome of reconstruction of eyelid defect resulting from lower eyelid tumor excision.Methods:A retrospective analysis of observational case series10 patients who had undergone Hughes procedure for the reconstruction of lower eyelid defect after tumor excision are enrolled between November 2011 and December 2015 in Ophthalmic Center of the second affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University. All the surgeries were done by the same surgeon.Results:The follow-up period varied from 3 to 52 months.The patients aged from 58 to 75 years old. Among the 10 cases,8 patients were diagnosed basal cell carcinoma,1 was diagnosed Meibomian gland carcinoma,1 was diagnosed squamous-cell carcinoma. No tumor recurrence or metastasis were found during the follow-up period.2 patients reported eyelid margin erythema, no complications were found.Conclusion:The reconstruction of lower eyelid defect by Hughes procedure has satisfactory functional and cosmetic results.
