Therapeutic Effects Of Yiqi Suoquan Decoction On Urge Urinary Incontinence In Older Female Patients

Objective:Urge urinary incontinence mostly happens in older females and significantly affes their life quality. The effects of traditional treatments are not ideal and have some side effects. Here we observed the therapeutic effects of Yiqi Suoquan Decoction on urge urinary incontinence in older female patients.Methods:A total of 36 older female patients with urge urinary incontinence according to ICS standard were included in the study. All subjects received Yiqi Suoquan Decoction for 42 days. Subjective symptoms, quality of life scores, urination diary and international consultation on incontinent questionnaire (ICIQ-FLUTS) were recorded before treatment,2 weeks and 6 weeks after the treatment. A line of blood pressure, blood cell counts, urine, liver and kidney functions tests, electrocardiograms were also recorded to evaluate the effects of Yiqi Suoquan Decoction on whole body functions.Results:After 2-6 weeks of treatment, the patients had increased average urine volume each time, reduced 24-hour average urine frequency, reduced average incontinence frequency, reduced nocturia, and increased 24-hour water consumption. There is a statistic significance (P< 0.05) before and after treatment.The average total ICIQ-FLUTS scores were (72.21±14.23) before treatment and (44.90±12.25) after treatment. The average total ICIQ-FLUTS score was significantly reduced after the treatment (p<0.05).The I-PSS scores were (13.50±2.65) before treatment, (10.10±1.72) after 2 weeks of treatment, and (6.47±2.35) after 6 weeks of treatment. The I-PSS score was significantly reduced after the treatment (P<0.05). Quality of life scores were (4.88±0.58) before treatment, (3.36±1.08) after 2 weeks of treatment, and (1.88±1.36) after 6 weeks of treatment. The Quality of life score was significantly reduced after the treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion1. Yiqi Suoquan Decoction has a sure curative effect on urge urinary incontinence without significant side effects in older female patients.2. ICIQ-FLUTS questionnaire assessment showed Yiqi Suoquan Decoction significantly improves patients’ life quality.
