ObjectiveThe study aims at the observation on the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with exercise therapy on acute ankle joint. By acupuncture combined with exercise therapy treatment of acute ankle sprain of subject, and only treated with acupuncture in the treatment of acute ankle sprain of subjects for clinical trials, observational study and compare, test data would be provided for acute ankle sprain early exercise intervention. It is significant to play a guiding role in exercise therapy for clinical treatment.MethodData sources of this study were from various sports teams (males and females athletes of football, basketball, volleyball and badminton team) of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou Sport University, and South China University of Technology.60 players who conform to the diagnosis of acute ankle sprain, ranging from 18-24 years old with good body, were randomly divided into Experimental Group and Control Group with 30 cases in each. In the acute phase, Control Group and Experimental Group were using RICE principle. Then Control Group was only used simple acupuncture once a day of 25min treatment, which regarded 4 days for 1 course of the treatment and a total of 2 courses of treatment with 1 day interval between treatment. Experimental Group was treated with acupuncture combined with exercise therapy, which the acupuncture treatment was the same as Control Group. After acupuncture, muscle strength, balance, endurance, body sensory training and other methods on ankle joint were adopted. There is no significant difference of two groups in baseline before treatment. VAS, AOFAS and balance weight table score Were statistical analyzed before and after the treatment.Results1.The age of the subjects, pain score (VAS score), AOFAS ankle-posterior foot score system and the balance scale score were no significant difference (P> 0.05) before the treatment, which the baseline was consistent and the experiment was comparable.2. Both simple acupuncture and acupuncture combined with exercise therapy treatment of acute ankle joint sprain have good clinical curative effect. The overall effect is as bellowing:For Control Group (30 cases),4 cases were cured,6 cases were markedly effective, effective in 14 cases and 6 cases were ineffective, which the total efficiency is 80.00%. For Experimental Group (30 cases),12 cases were cured,10 cases markedly effective, effectively in 6 cases and 2 case was ineffective, which the total efficiency is 93.34%. The total curative effect of acupuncture combined with exercise therapy is better than that with the simple acupuncture (P<0.05)3. After the treatment, VAS score of both two groups decreased significantly with statistical significance (P<0.01), indicating that the two treatments can effectively relieve patients’ pain. However, the comparison of VAS score between the two groups was with no significant difference (P>0.05), indicating that the two treatments in the pain improvement was without significant difference.4. After the treatment, AOFAS ankle-foot function score of two groups were significantly decreased, with statistical significance (P<0.01), indicating that the two methods can effectively improve the symptoms of patients. AOFAS score of Experimental Group was better than Control Group (P<0.01), indicating that acupuncture combined with exercise therapy is better than simple acupuncture in improving the function of ankle joint.5. After the treatment, balance scale score of two groups of subjects have decreased with significant difference (P<0.05), indicating that the two methods can effectively recover patients’sense of balance. The balance table score in Experimental Group was better than Control Group (P<0.01), implying acupuncture combined with exercise therapy is superior to that of simple acupuncture in restoring sense of balance.Conclusion1. The experimental study showed that both the simple acupuncture treatment and acupuncture combined with exercise therapy for the treatment of acute ankle injury are effective;2. Acupuncture combined with exercise therapy in the treatment of acute ankle joint injury in clinical efficacy is superior to simple acupuncture;3. Acupuncture combined with exercise therapy in the treatment of acute ankle sprain showed an acute clinical curative effect with no obvious complications or side effects, which showed obvious effect on improvement after ankle sprain joint function and balance and preventive effect on the secondary ankle injury.
