And oral cancer epidemiological study is advantageous to the prevention, treatment, and early diagnosis of disease. This study aimed to analyze and understand the Nanjing and the surrounding areas of oral infection situation and composition characteristics of malignant tumor, provided reference data for prevention and control of oral malignant tumors.MethodResearch data were derived from 1267 cases who pathologically diagnosed with oral and maxillofacial malignant tumor and hospitalized in Nanjing Stomatological Hospital between January 2010 to December 2013( Exclude duplicate hospitalized). This study analyzed the clinical epidemiology information of patients diagnosed with oral and maxillofacial malignant tumor using the retrospective survey methods, including gender, age, residence, disease diagnosis and classification. All cases grouped with ages, Incidence of each age group, the prevalence of urban and rural areas, the high site and pathologic classification of oral cancer, oral health were statistical analyzed and related content for statistical analysis.ResultThe average age of 1267 cases was 60.94 years old,and the incidence rate of male was higher than that of female, which was 1. 3:1. 0.Males also had a longer smoking and drinking history than females. The high risk age was 60-69 and over 70 years old. Males at 60-69 years old and females over 70 years old suffered from the highest incidence rate. There was a significant difference between different ages( P< 0. 005). The most common oral malignant tumor was oral cancer, in which the most common was squamous cell carcinoma with the rate of 64.56%( 818 cases). The most common site was tongue( 27. 55%), followed by buccal, gingival, soft and hard palate, jaw, salivary glands. Chronic inflammatory lesions of teeth331 cases, accounted for 26.13% of the total.ConclusionThe prevalence of male patients with oral malignant tumor was higher than female in Nanjing Stomatological Hospital, the most common was squamous cell carcinoma. The high risk age was 60-69 and over 60 years old, male prevalence in 60-69 years had the highest proportion, female prevalence over 60 years old had the highest proportion. There was a significant difference between different ages( P< 0. 005), which suggests that oral health care of old people should be strengthened, Dentists should pay attention to early treatment of oral ulcer and oral chronic inflammation.
