Effects Of Pyrexia On Edaravone Injection In Patients With Crebral Infarct

Objective To investigate the effect of edaravone injection in cerebral ischemia patients with pyrexia.Methods All cases with acute phase of cerebral hemisphere infarction, were enrolled from Department of Neurology of Liuzhou People’s Hospital, and were divided into Edaravone-treated groups and non treated groups. According to whether merger of pyrexia during acute phase of cerebral infarction, patients were further divided into 4 groups, including the edaravone group in hyperthermia temperature (n=69), edaravone group in normal temperature (n=81), conventional group in hyperthermia temperature (n=73) and conventional group in normal temperature (n=85). General conditions, neurological impairment and temperature were recorded. National institutes of health stroke scale (NIHSS) were assessed before and 1 month after the treatment, and the clinical effects were also recorded and compared.Results A total of 308 patients were included, and was no difference in general conditions and in other risk factors. NIHSS in each group was significantly reduce 1 month after the treatment compared with admission. Two groups in hyperthermia temperature were no difference in the condition of pyrexia. The improvement of NIHSS score in the edaravone group in hyperthermia temperature was greater than the conventional group in hyperthermia temperature (p<0.05) and worse than edaravone group in normal temperature (p<0.05). The improvement of NIHSS score in the conventional group in hyperthermia temperature was worse than the conventional group in normal temperature (p<0.05). The improvement of NIHSS score in the edaravone group in normal temperature was significantly greater than the conventional group in normal temperature (p<0.01).Neurologic improvement were 36.84%、72.73%,23.08%、44.44% respectively.Conclusion Hyperthermia increases can decrease the neurological score after brain ischemia.Edaravone has neuroprotective effects in cerebral hemisphere ischemia. Cerebral ischemia patients with pyrexia can also benefit from edaravone, despite pyrexia reduce curative effect of edaravone.
