ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of early intervention of bloodletting therapy on acut-e peripheral facial paralysis with ears pain. To investigate the effectiveness of bloodle-tting therapy treatment of acute peripheral facial paralysis with ears pain. To further c-larify the early acupuncture intervention is effective for the peripheral facial paralysis. To provide a reliable basis optimization of diagnosis and treatment protocol of acupu-ncture treatment for peripheral facial paralysis.MethodsAll cases were chosen from Acupuncture and Moxibustion Department and Neurol-ogy Department in acute peripheral facial paralysis with ears pain.60 patients were r-andomly divided into treatment group and control group with 30 cases in each group. Two different methods were used for two groups in acute period. The treatment grou-p was treated with basic drugs and also with bloodletting therapy at Yifeng, Qianzhe-ng acupoints 1 times in every other day until the end of acute period, and the control group was treated with basic drugs only. After acute period, two groups were treated with the same acupuncture method of 1 time in every other day until cured. By mea-ns of the visual analogue scale (VAS scale) score, evaluating the analgesic effect of acute treatment of peripheral facial paralysis with ears pain and recording the days tha-t pain disappears. Using the facial nerve function scores (H-B scale, H-B scale score), and facial disability index (FDI scale) to compare the curative effects of two groups in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis.Results1. The immediate effects of bloodletting therapy which evaluated by VAS scores h-ad no significant difference (P>0.05). After 20 minutes, the VAS scores decreased (P <0.05). When compared with the time that ears pain takes to disappear, the treatm-ent group was shorter than that of control group(P<0.05).2. Within group comparison:After one week of morbidity, the facial nerve functi -on scores (H-B scale score) between two groups had no significant difference (P>0.0 5). After one month, the effect of the two groups had significant difference (P<0.01), which was compared by the facial nerve function scores (H-B scale score) and facial disability index (FDI scale). After three months, the effect which is compared by fac-i al disability index (FDI scale) of the two groups had significant difference than befo-r e(P<0.01).Comparison between groups:After a week of morbidity, the facial nerve function scores (H-B scale score) between two groups had no significant difference(P>0.05). A-fter. a month, the effect of the two groups had significant difference(P<0.01), which is compared by the facial nerve function scores (H-B scale score) and body disability i ndex(FDIP scale). However, the scores of social disability index(FDIS scale) had no s-ignificant difference(P>0.05). After three months, the effect which is compared by fa-c ial disability index (FDI scale) of the two groups had no significant difference(P>0.0 5).3. Comparison between the curative effect of two groups, the treatment group exc-els the control group(P<0.05).4. Comparison between curing days of the two groups, the treatment group was s-ignificantly shorter than that of control group(P<0.01).Conclusion1. The clinical curative effect of bloodletting therapy for ears pain was obviously effective. It can relieve the symptoms of ears pain more quickly, shorten the duration of ears pain. Other than that, this treatment can shorten facial nerve compression tim-e, promote facial nerve recovery and cure facial paralysis faster.2. The acute period intervention of acupuncture treatment for peripheral facial par-alysis is more effective, which shortens the treatment time and improves the quality o-f life of patients.
