ObjectiveChloasma is a kind of common facial disease, without harm to health, but to facial beauty, which often happens to women. There are no specific methods or pills to cure chloasma in the western medicine, but many people, especially women, are upset by it and struggle to find ways to get rid of the spots in the face, but they are often disappointed by the curative effects. More researches are done on the factors of chloasma. It is commonly believed that the causes of chloasma are closely related to life style, like endocrine disorders, genetic factor and ultraviolet light, which are mentioned a lot. In addition, because of the changes of styles of work, study or life, cervical muscles and vertebrae work a lot to maintain posture, and cumulative strain and even cervical spondylosis happen a lot, which may cause a lot of problems. It can be observed in clinic that people with cervical spondylosis often have headache, dizziness, tinnitus, and so on. Besides, some facial problems can been found, such as dark face, wrinkles and even chloasma caused by cervical problems, which were reported in clinical study. Also, it could be observed clinically that some facial problems are somehow solved when cervical strain or spondylopathy could be treated. For example, one’s dizziness may get better after the treatment of cervical spondylosis. Thus, when some doctors treat some facial problems, they would put the patient’s cervical situation into consideration and then improve the cervical circulation from the tense muscles, the disordered vertebrae, the thickened ligament and so on.This clinical study which was small sample and randomized controlled, was designed to observe the curative effect of common-used acupoints including local points and syndrome-differentiation points on Qi stagnation and Blood stasis, combined with Jin’s Neck Three Needles (BL10, BL11, EX-HN14), so to elevate the feasibility and superiority of the Jin’s Neck Three Needles (BL10, BL11, EX-HN14) in treating chloasma, and even some other facial problems associated with Qi and Blood.MethodsThis study selected 62 female patients with chloasma who came to the Acupuncture Clinic and Dermatology Clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between April and November in 2015. They all met the diagnostic criteria of chloasma and the syndrome of Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis, promised to comply with the requirements of the study and signed the informed consent. The simple digital table was used to divide them into two group randomly, eventually 32 cases in the treatment group and 30 cases in the control group. According to Professor Fu Jieying, each group would needle the acupoints of ST7, SI18, EX-HN5, facial A-shi points, LI4, LR3, SP10, SP6, GB20, and BL18. Besides, the treatment group would add more Jin’s Neck Three Needles (BL10, BL11, EX-HN14) into the treatment. Treatment was done twice per week, and after 3 months’treatments, curative effects would be elevated by scoring the degree of color and the scope of covering area, and by the scoring of the Cervical Spondylopathy Assessment before and after all the treatments. SPSS19.0 statistical software would be used for data processing.Results1.60 cases finished their 3 months’treatments eventually,30 cases in each group.2. Both groups got significant therapeutic effects in bettering the chloasma from the color and the covering area. The total effective rate of the treatment group was 93.3%, for 7 cases had the cured effect,14 cases had the remarkable effect,7 cases had the general effect, and 2 cases had the meaningless effect according to the evaluation standard of chloasma. The total effective rate of the control group was 80.0%, for 4 cases got the cured effect,9 cases got the remarkable effect,11 cases got the general effect, and 6 cases got the meaningless effect. The statistical difference between two groups was significant (P<0.05).3.All the cases in the treatment group got significant therapeutic effects in treating cervical strain and bettering the circulation of the neck. The total effective rate was 100%, for 3 cases had the cured effect,10 cases had the remarkable effect,17 cases had the general effect according to the evaluation standard of cervical spondylopathy. However, the cervical strain of some cases in the control group were somehow bettered, and the total effective rate was 46.7%, for 1 cases had the cured effect,3 cases had the remarkable-effect,10 cases had the general effect, and 16 cases had the meaningless effect. The difference between two groups was significant (P<0.05). In terms of neck pain, the variance of the scores elevated before and after the treatment of the treatment group was larger than that of the control group.ConclusionIt could be concluded that the treatment group was superior to the control group in treating the chloasma. Besides, the treatment group had the better effect in improving the cervical circulation to treat cervical strain and reducing the neck pain.
