Objective:By comparing the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with moxibustion therapy and acupuncture alone in the treatment of dysphagia after stroke, to discuss the advantages of acupuncture combined with moxibustion therapy in treating dysphagia after stroke. Trying to seek a more effective treatment for this disease, and attempting to provide evidence based medicine for the clinical application of moxibustion therapy. Methods:To collect 70 cases, according to the order of visiting time, randomly drawn by SPSS 19.0 and assigned to group 1 with acupuncture combined with moxibustion (treatment group) and grou 2 with acupuncture alone (control group),35 patients in each. Two groups of patients were given basic clinical treatment (including for the treatment of the underlying disease, such as the regulation of blood pressure, blood sugar, improve circulation, nerve nutrition, etc.), stroke conventional dialectical therapy (oral medicine, physical therapy measures, etc.), conventional swallowing rehabilitation (ice stimulation, feeding training), acupuncture treatment (select tongue three main points, brain three main points,4 weeks for total treatment). Treatment group (acupuncture and moxibustion group):above on all the basis treatment plus moxibustion, moxibustion main points to take the Fengchi (double), Fengfu, moxibustion time was 10 minutes on each point, once a day, course of treatment as the same as acupuncture group. With the Kubota water swallowing test to screen patients with swallowing dysfunction, recorded the Kubota swallowing capacity ratings record and Criteria of evaluation of Dysphagia score before and after treatment, which were used to statistical analysis and evaluate the clinical curative effect. Results:The result of the compare in two groups of age, gender, the course of the disease, type of stroke, had no significant statistical difference, and it presented this two groups has the comparability. The results showed that after treatment the scores of two groups of patients were higher, both in Kubota swallowing ability rating and Criteria of evaluation of Dysphagia, the difference was statistically significant (p<0.01). Comparing with the simple acupuncture group, acupuncture combined with moxibustion group got a higher score in Kubota swallowing ability rating and Criteria of evaluation of Dysphagia, the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).In Kubota swallowing rating evaluation method, the results showed that after treatment with acupuncture combined moxibustion,14 cases had markedly effects,17 cases had effects,2 cases were invalid, the total efficiency was 93.94%. On the other side, acupuncture group had 5 cases with markedly effects, 24 cases had normal effects,4 cases were ineffective, the total efficiency was 87.88%, it was a statistically significant difference between two groups (p<0.05). In Dysphagia evaluation criteria scores, acupuncture combined moxibustion group basically cured in 9 cases, significantly improved in 3 cases, improved in 13 cases, and invalided in 8 cases, the total efficiency was 75.76%; in acupuncture group basically cured in 4 cases, significantly improved in 0 cases, improved 10 cases, invalided in 19 cases, the total efficiency was 42.42%, between the two groups was statistically significant differences(p<0.05). The results supported that acupuncture combined moxibustion had a better curative effect on treating dyphagia after stroke than simple acupuncture. There was a significant positive correlation between Kubota swallowing evaluation method and evaluation criteria dysphagia score(p<0.01).Conclusion:For treating dysphagia after stroke, both acupuncture combined with moxibustion therapy and acupuncture therapy alone have a good effect. Acupunture on tongue three main points and brain three main points can refreshing, smooth throat, moxibustion with Fengfu and Fengchi can warming Yangqi, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. The combination can play a refreshing, stasis and meridians role, therefore acupuncture combined with moxibustion therapy was more dominant and safe with no side effects, which was worth to promote and application in clinical practice. In the present study, although the evaluation method and the evaluation criteria in accordance with dysphagia Kubota wallowing ability scores obtained were not efficient approximation, but after a detailed statistical analysis of the scores, that two scale ratings overall trend has significant consistency and therefore it can believe there was significant positive correlation between the two scales.
