Objective:To discuss the trait of TCM syndrome of CFS in Taiwan and the curative effect of acupuncture to improve the symptom of CFS aiming to lay a foundation for the treatment based on syndrome differentiation of TCM in this field.Methods:The research had collected the patients from section for outpatients of researcher,who must accord with the TCM and western medicine diagnostic code.Study 1:Factor analysis were adopted for the the trait and distributing of TCM syndrome. Factor analysis was used for category the patients according to differentsyndromes.Study 2:Random allocation to acupuncture or health education for 2 months andassessment 2 months later. The main outcome measure was Fatigue Syndrome, and repeated measures were use to analyze to analyze the changing of the score of the three scales.Results:Study1.’Through the analysis the syndrome of CFS was mainly divided into liver fire attacking the heart,fire excess from yin deficiency,heart blood and spleen qi deficiency,heart and gallbladder qi deficiency。Study2:Subjects in the acupuncture condition showed significant improvements in and sleep parameters of rated sleep quality, time of falling asleep,habitual sleep efficiency, sleep medication taking,dysfunction in the daytime as well as in. They also showed significant improvements in FS score as well as in the sleep parameters of rated sleep quality, time of falling asleep,habitual sleep efficiency, sleep medication taking,dysfunction in the daytime in the follow-up visit 2 months later.Conclusions:Study1:Life-style in Taiwan influence the trait of TCM syndrome of CFS in Taiwan.Study2:acupuncture can be considered a useful nonpharmacologic approach to improve sleep quality with moderate complaints and, thereby, has the potential to ameliorate sleep complaints possibly before syndromal CFS develops.
