ObjectiveSports fatigue is a special characteristic of the movement, often occurring in the course of sports, which is the primary factor that seriously harms to the health of athletes and affects their sports performance. In ancient discourse, sports fatigue can be seen in the works about deficiency, weary and consumption. Nowadays, sports fatigue are often considered that dysfunctional kidney, liver and spleen are closely related to the occurrence of exercise-induced fatigue. Some other studies suggest that, spleen governs the transportation and movement of physical energy metabolism in muscles and limbs, exuberant spleen can increase the level of immune; Temper wasting and dampness trapped in the coke resistance muscle result in the muscle prone to heavy sour and fatigue Athletic; liver stores the blood, as a sea of blood, affiliated to liver, liver reinforcement tendons, tendons connect with meat, liver control emotional catharsis. These studies explore the relationship between exercise-induced fatigue and liver and spleen from different angles. But there are still few systematic researches about sports fatigue from the perspective of the liver and spleen. The present study investigated the effect of acupuncture on the body’s blood lactic acid, blood urea nitrogen and other indicators generated in the movement from the theory of traditional Chinese medicine-related liver and spleen, investigate the effect of acupuncture on prevention and treatment of sports fatigue, and clarified the possible mechanism, which can provide a theoretical basis and methods to prevent and treat sports fatigue.Methods60 health eligible subjects were screened from Sports Health Institute in our school, whose ages were from 18 to 23 years old. In these subjects, no abnormalities were found by the routinely physical examinations, no discomfort complained by individuals. And they have similar athletic ability and same physical activities prescribed daily. They were randomly divided into the Chinese medicine group and the acupuncture group, and 30 cases are there in each group. The two groups started to treatment from the first day after training. In the Chinese medicine group, the subjects were orally administrated with Xiaoyaosan particles and Dangshen pills, and the acupuncture group received acupuncture treatment. After two weeks of a training period, a series of indicators, including blood urea nitrogen, serum creatine kinase, leukocyte immune index (WBC) number, serum CD3+, CD4+levels, immunoglobulin IgA, IgG, IgM content, reaction time, subjective feeling of fatigue score (RPE) and symptom scores were measured, to investigate the effect of acupuncture treatment on sports fatigue.Results1. The blood urea nitrogen and serum creatine kinase levels were effectively reduced in both groups after treating, and a more significantly reduction was found in the acupuncture group, compared with the Chinese medicine group. In terms of blood urea nitrogen, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment,P=0.000<0.01, t=-8.112; compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.026<0.05, t=-2.346, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both group before and after treatment, the difference were statistically significant, P=0.014<0.05, t=2.531. In terms of serum creatine kinase, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=-8.098;compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01,t=-5.547, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.049<0.05, t=2.009, the differences were statistically significant.2. Treating with acupuncture and the Chinese medicine can effectively reduce the number of white blood cells WBC, and the reduction in acupuncture group was more obvious than that in the Chinese medicine group. Compare acupuncture group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=-4.565;compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=-4.422, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.028<0.05, t=2.250, the differences were statistically significant.3. The serum CD3+, CD4+levels, and immunoglobulin IgA, IgG, IgM content were significantly increased in the two groups, an elevated level was more obvious in acupuncture group than that in the Chinese medicine group. In terms of CD3+, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment,P=0.000<0.01, t=25.237; compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=70.892, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.05,t=4.855, the differences were statistically significant. In terms of CD4+, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment,P=0.000<0.01, t=17.951; compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01,t=13.456, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=4.418, the differences were statistically significant. In terms of IgA, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment, P=0.001<0.05, t=3.648, compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=5.546, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.011<0.05, t=2.715, the differences were statistically significant. In terms of IgG, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=5.812, compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=4.371, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.042<0.05,t=2.082, the differences were statistically significant. In terms of IgM, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment, P=0.001<0.05, t=14.156, compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment,P=0.000<0.01, t=8.854, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment,P=0.000<0.01, t=4.859, the differences were statistically significant.4. Acupuncture treatment and administration of the Chinese medicine could shorten the reaction, and the effect of the acupuncture was more obvious. Compare acupuncture group before and after treatment,P=0.000<0.01, t=-7.040, compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=-5.013, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.006<0.05, t=2.859, the differences were statistically significant.5. The RPE score and symptom score after treating in acupuncture group and Chinese medicine group were significantly reduced, and in the acupuncture group they were much more less than that in the control group. In terms of RPE score, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=-4.572, compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.01<0.05, t=-2.700, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.025<0.05, t=2.309, the differences were statistically significant. In terms of symptom score, compare acupuncture group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=-6.935, compare the Chinese medicine group before and after treatment, P=0.000<0.01, t=-4.301, after analysis, the differences were statistically significant. Comparing the differences in both groups before and after treatment, P=0.040<0.05, t=2.105, the differences were statistically significant.ConclusionIn the present study, we found that acupuncture group is more effective to improve blood biochemical indicators than the Chinese medicine group, and the blood urea nitrogen and serum creatine kinase levels after acupuncture treatment were significantly lower than that before acupuncture treatment; In improving immunization indicators aspect, acupuncture treatment could remarkably reduce the number of leukocytes, significantly increase serum CD3+, CD4+levels, and the concentrations of immunoglobulin IgA, IgG, IgM. And a more obvious improvement was found as treating with acupuncture compared with the Chinese medicine. In addition, acupuncture treatment could significantly reduce the response time, RPE score and symptom score. These finding suggested that the Shuganjianpi acupuncture can effectively alleviate sports fatigue and improve exercise capacity through affecting serum biochemical indices, metabolism, activating of cytokines, improving immune function.
