Mister Lv’s Spring and Autumn Annals is an important book in the pre-Qin period. The book is rich in content, including about more than 60 kinds of terms of illness, most of which appeared in the TCM ancient books in the same period or afterwards.Altogether there are 18 terms of illness included in the study except those terms of illness that have been studied and those that don’t need researching. They are Jue, Wei, Zhongdamen, Zi, Fuzhong, Ju, Mie, Zhou, Bi,Nvzai,Zuoji, Wei, Ganyi, Pianzhi, Dachou, Pianxie, Pianku.By researching and analyzing the word meanings of the terms of illness, defining what they mean, exploring their causes at the same time, and comparing them with those in The Yellow Emperor’s Internal Canon of Medicine,We drew the following conclusions:First,in the 18 terms of illness, there are 13 terms appearing in both of the two books and the other 5 cannot be found in The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine.Second,As a literary book,Mister Lv’s Spring and Autumn Annals didn’t put forward definite the pathogeny and pathogenesis, but it delivered essence,Yin and yang, emotion, diet tiredness and environmental seasons and so on, only in this point it is priceless, and, the terms of illness in Mister Lv’s Spring and Autumn annals reflect the viewpoint of health-care, while The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine as a medical book made a more precise and clearer explanation about the causes of illness, and classified them more definitely and systematically. In addition, among the 18 terms of illness in Mister Lv’s Spring and AutumnAnnals there are 7 named by the symptoms including Wei(Impotent feebleness),Fuzhong(Edema),Diandao(Mind chaos),Ju(Hearing impairment),Bi(Food impotent),Wei(Boils scar),Dachou(Body odor),one named by illness location,it is Zhou(Abdominal distension and pain),two named by the nature of the illness, they are Zuoji(Epidemic disease)and Pianku(Hemiplegia),three named by the pathological changes and the symptoms, they are Jue(Reverse flow of gas),Pianzhi(callosity)and Pianxie(Fused ribs),and another three named by illness locations and symptoms, they are Zhongdamen(Gastral cavity and abdomen floating),Mie(Eye gunk)and Ganyi(Throat dry),and there is only one term of illness that we don’t know how to name it.In addition, the name of the word "Nvzai(Infertility)" reflects the impact of the disease on the family, should be attributed to social factors.
