Objective Hypertension has become the most important threat to human health. The increase of blood pressure is likely to leading to ischemia, oxygen reduction, cerebral vascular injury,This pathological changes leading to structural changes in the patients with hypertension brain, thereby causing abnormal cognitive function in patients with hypertension. Memory function is considered as the key component of cognitive function. This study to explore the differences of the object memory between the patients with first-episode hypertension and the normal controls,To investigate the correlation between the degree of blood pressure and the injury of the memory function in first-episode hypertension. Methods This study was carried out in A total of 52 patiens with first-episode hypertension were compared with matched 48 health controls;Self-Rating Anxiety Scale and Self-Rating Depression Scale were used to evaluate the emotional state of the two groups, The visual-space, visual-verbal, visual- object working memory task and short time task were used to measure the different of memory between the two groups. Meanwhile,Comparison of the relationship between blood pressure and memory function. Independent sample T test, chi-square analysis were used to analyze the different between between the two groups,Pearson correlation analysis were used to analyze the correlation between the degree of blood pressure and the injury of the memory in first-episode hypertension..Results The general demographic data were not significant difference between two groups, Participants with anxiety or depression had to be excluded. First, Patients group performance of correct rate and reaction time of The visual-object working memory task were worse[(77.69±11.21)%;(1494.92±238.36)ms] than healthy control[(83.37±7.75)%;(1397.49±240.54)ms](t=-2.921,P=0.004;t=2.033,P=0.045);Second, Short-term memory of the Patients group[(10.73±2.86)score] was worse than that of the healthy controls[(12.05±3.27)score](t=-2.156,P=0.033);Thirty,In patients group,Systolic blood pressure was negative correlation to correct rate in visual-object working memory Test and short-term memory(r=-0.579,P<0.001;r=-0.568,P<0.001). But there were no significant findings in visual-space,visual-verbal working memory task and short time task between the two groups(All P>0.05).Conclusion This study suggest that patients with first-episode hypertension show the damage on the memory function was non-extensive,Patients had impairment in object memory,This impairment of memory function in patients maybe relate to disease injures the different central nervous system by blood pressure rises. The deficit degree of object memory for patients is closely related to Systolic blood pressure.
