Objective To investigate the self perceived burden of patients with type 2 diabetes, and to explore the related factors that may influence the level of self perceived burden of patients.Methods A convenience sample of 215 type 2 diabetes patients at the treatment stage in the Department of Endocrinology First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from April to December 2014. Type 2 diabetes patients were investigated with general information questionnaire, Self-Perceived Burden Scale, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, Patient Dignity Inventory and Perceived social support scale, and may influence factors. Normal distribution data with variance and t test, skewness distribution data using Pearson correlation analysis, using multiple regression analysis is closely related to the SPB influence factors.Results (1) Type 2 diabetic patients self perceived burden of the average (25.59+10.58) points, the overall level of light to moderate; (2) Single factor analysis results show that different age, place of residence, marital status, occupation, family income, religion, medical payment types, diabetes family history, complication, hypoglycemia and the number of patients in hospital self perceived burden difference has statistics significance (P<0.05); (3) Anxiety group in patients with type 2 diabetes self perceived burden was significantly higher than that in non anxiety group (P<0.01), lost dignity group of type 2 diabetic patients with self perceived burden was significantly higher than that of non loss group (P<0.05), self feel burden and social support score showed a negative correlation (r=-0.292, P<0.01); (4) Through multiple stepwise regression analysis, patients with type 2 diabetes self perceived burden influencing factors for: dignity loss, anxiety, annual household income, medical payment, the number of complications and no family history of diabetes.Conclusions In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus common self perceived burden; annual household income, medical payment type, complication and no family history of diabetes is the burden of self perceived; self perceived burden and anxiety and dignity loss are positively related, and social support were negatively correlated. The results from this study suggest that we, clinical nursing work we should pay attention to the psychological burden of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, counseling patients with anxiety and negative emotions, the assessment of patients with social and family support, through reduce the patient’s self perceived burden, improve the patient’s self confidence may have long-term treatment for diabetes.
