Objective: We aimed to study the prevention and treatment effect of trolamine towards acute radiation dermatitis after 90Sr-90 Y application. Methods: We chose 153 infant superficial hemangioma outpatients of China Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University from June 2014 to June 2015 whose first treatment ages were between 1-6 months. There was no any previous history of serious heart, lung, liver, kidney disease, or any treatment. Patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group. In the observation group, patients used 90Sr-90 Y application with total dose 15-20 Gy, and trolamine cream daily 3 times. And petients in the control group were treated by 90Sr-90 Y application with total dose 15-20 Gy, and normal saline solution daily 3 times. Finally, there were 153 patients in our research, 79 in the observation group, and 74 in the control group. The cure rates and effective rates of two groups were calculated by the curative effect standard of hemangioma, and compared by Chi square test. The incidence rates of each grade acute radiation dermatitis and the total acute radiation dermatitis incidence of two groups were calculated by RTOG criteria, comparing by Chi square test. The occurrence time and recovery time of two groups of acute radiation dermatitis were compared by t test.Result: There was no significant difference between the observation group and the control group in the age, sex, location and area composition(p>0.05). The cure rates of observation group and control group in 2 months, 4 months, 6 months were not statistically different(p>0.05). The effective rates in both groups were 100%. No grade III and IV acute radiation dermatitis appeared in both group. Both the incidence rate of grade I acute radiation dermatitis and the total acute radiation dermatitis incidence of observation group were lower than control group(p<0.05). Occurrence time of two groups had no statistical difference(20±6 days vs. 21±6 days, p>0.05), but the recovery time of observation group was shorter than control group(8±3 days vs. 10±4 days, p<0.05).Conclusion: Trolamine did not affect the curative effect of the 90Sr-90 Y application in infantile hemangioma. Trolamine could reduce the incidence rate induced by 90Sr-90 Y application and could shorten recovery time.
