Clinical Research On Catgut Embedding For Treatment Of Simple Obesity With Back-Shu And Front-Mu Points

Objective: To observe the clinical treatment efficacy of simple obesity by catgut embedding with back-Shu and front-Mu points for offering new treatment options.Methods: 149 cases were randomly divided into catgut embedding therapy group(76) and Electra-acupuncture control group(73) with Lottery method according to the inclusion criteria. Treatment group were treated by catgut embedding with back-Shu and front-Mu points. Control group were treated by Electra-acupuncture.Results were analyzed after 2 courses of treatment.Results:(1) The total effective rate of the treatment group was 86.67%, while the control group was 81.60%, after 2 courses treatment. There was no significant difference in efficacy between the two groups(P> 0.05).(2) the average BMI decline of catgut embedding group and the patients in the Electra-acupuncture group was not significant after one course of treatment; After two courses of treatment, BMI decreased in catgut embedding group was statistically significantly(P < 0.01) While the BMI decreased in EA group also with significant(P< 0.05). The difference has no statistical significance of BMI compared between two groups while course one and two finished.(3) the average abdominal circumference decline of catgut embedding group and Electra-acupuncture group was not significant after one course of treatment; After two courses of treatment, abdominal circumference decreased in catgut embedding group was significantly(P<0.05)while the abdominal circumference decreased has no significantly difference(P>0.05). The difference has no statistical significance of abdominal circumference compared between two groups after the first course and second course treatment(P > 0.05).Conclusion: This study shows that efficacy have significant difference in the two groups before and after treatment, BMI and abdominal circumference were significantly improved compare with before. Compared with the two groups, the catgut embedding group had advantages in improving BMI and abdominal circumference, but had no obviously statistical significance. Compared with acupuncture, catgut embedding therapy with the advantages of safe, simple, treatment time short and easy to promote.
