Objective: Through system evaluation and Meta-analysis about interleukin 10 promoter gene polymorphism and atherosclerosis disease risk(stroke, acute myocardial infarction), to discuss the relationship between them. Methods: After system retrieving database in both English and Chinese, we included in the 5 articles about IL-10-1082G/A gene polymorphism and cerebral stroke study: including 1150 cases, control group of 856 people. Of IL-10-819C/T gene polymorphism and the risk of stroke in the research into 4 papers, 670 cases, control group of 386 people. IL-10-819C/T gene polymorphism and acute myocardial infarction correlation study of 4 articles, including 2397 cases, control group of 1859 people. Dominant model and recessive allele model is adopted to model the Meta analysis, so as to explore gene polymorphism and the risk of atherosclerosis disease. Results: Combined analysis indicated that IL-10-1082G/A polymorphism was associated with risk of IS(A/A vs. G/G+G/A:OR=1.82, 95%CI 1.21-2.74, P=0.004; for A allele vs. G allele: OR=1.55, 95%CI 1.14-2.10, P=0.006). However, there was no significant association between IL-10-819C/T polymorphism and IS in any comparison model(C/C vs. T/C+T/T: OR=0.96, 95%CI 0.69-1.36, P=0.84;C allele vs. T allele: OR=1.00, 95%CI 0.83-1.21, P=0.97). For IL-10-819G/A genetic polymorphism, Combining analysis shows that the IL-10-819C/T polymorphism has no association with the risk of acute myocardial infarction(C/C +C/T:T/T: OR= 1.15,95%CI 0.90-1.46, P = 0.26;C/C and C/T + T/T: OR= 1.11,95%CI 0.98-1.26, P = 0.11; C and T:OR = 1.08, 95%CI= 0.92-1.26, P =0.35). Conclusion: Our results indicated that IL-10-1082G/A polymorphism, but not IL10-819C/T polymorphism was associated with the risk of IS.
