Objective:To get the dietary status of the college students in Shaoyang area and discuss the problem of the school meals, To provide reference for the school to make a new nutritive dietary program.Methods:The 894 students were randomly selected as the objects from every grad of Shaoyang University and Shaoyang polytechnic college for this study. The survey of sudents’ dietary nutrition by means of continuously-weighing (3 days) and questionnaire, the investigation about Nutrition Knowledge, Nutrition attitude, Nutrition Practice and KAP were carried out by the mean of questionnaire, building database by Epi Data 3.1, analyzed these data by the software Excel 2003, SPSS 13.0.Results:The distribution of the BMI(body mass index) of college students in Shaoyang was fundamental reasonal. There was no obvious difference on the physical status between male and female.The intake of fruit were 53.8%(male) and 70.3%(female), fish were 21.5%(male) and 22.13%(female),milk were 34.06%(male)and 62.47%(female),beans and nuts were 81.12%(male) and 82.94%(female),both all were not enough.The daily intakes of Protein were 135.1%(male) and 117%(female) and the intake of lipid were 196%(male) and 160%(female),both of them were over intakes compared with RNIs, The proportion of animal protein was higher than bean protein in the college students. The energy from breakfast was more higher than that from supper (P<0.05) in the college students.The highest nutrition knowledge awareness rate of single college student was 87.5% and the lowest was 9.1%. The all college students have a very nice nutrition attitude in Shaoyang area.825% of the college students have the behavior of snacks,89.8% of the college students had their breakfast on schedule every day,61.2% of male college students would consider the food safety first when choose the meal place and 65.4% of the female college students would consider the price first when repasts.Conclusion and Suggestion:The diet structure of the college students in Shaoyang area was unreasonable, the nutrition knowledge level of the college students was low, and the behavior of snacks and breakfast skipping existed widely, the willingness in the students to obtain nutrition knowledge was strong, the campus should strengthen management, change the present situation on the diet of the students, promoting the nutrition knowledge through multiple-channels and help the college students to correct the bad eating habits.
