Objective To observe the clinical effects of absorbable artificial dura mater on preventing postoperative hemorrhage in Large parasagittal and falcine meningiomas. Methods Analysis the clinical data of patients with large parasagittal and falcine meningiomas (maximum tumor diameter greater than 5 cm) from 2011 September to 2014 November in First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University,39 patients using absorbable artificial dura mater on preventing postoperative hemorrhage were selected as the experimental group. At the same time,39 patients using gelatin sponge on preventing postoperative hemorrhage were selected as control group.Compare the degree of postoperative tumor cavity collapse, postoperative hemorrhage, intracranial pressure, hospital stay and functional recovery after operation between the two groups. Results The experimental group is superior to the control group in the degree of postoperative tumor cavity collapse, postoperative hemorrhage, intracranial pressure, hospital stay and functional recovery after operation (P< 0.05).Conclusion The absorbable artificial dura mater has similar Clinical outcomes with gelatin sponge on preventing postoperative hemorrhage. But patients using absorbable artificial dura mater have better Clinical outcomes in terms of postoperative hemorrhage, intracranial pressure, hospital stay and functional recovery after operation. The study has certain clinical significance.
