The hypertension prevalence rate in China is very high. Besides that it is the most commonly seen chronic noninfectious disease among the public. Therefore it is much important to the national health system. And it has great influence on patients’life quality. There are lots of researches on the risk factors of hypertension. But the direct inducing factor to hypertension is still been unfound. Homocysteine is an nonessential amino acid in human body. It will be diagnosed hyperhomocysteinemia when the concentration arebeyondlOumol/L. Numerous clinical studies show that there is an inseparable relationship between the occurrence and development of hyperhomocysteinemiain patients with essential hypertension. The purpose of this paper is to review the research progress of hyperhomocysteinemia and hypertension pathogenesis.
