Objective: To explore clinical effects of three methods which used in the total knee arthroplasty to reconstruct patients deformity of varus with the tibial medial side defect. Methods: Retrospective analysis of 41 patients(48 knees) with knee OA with varus who undergo total knee arthroplasty. We collected patients’ data from Department of orthopedics,China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University from december 2013 to October 2015.These cases including 13 males(16 knees)and 28 females(32 knees).Ages were range 55 to 80 years old.The mean age was 64.98 years old.Patients classified into three groups based on the different reconstruction methods.Group A(autogeneous bone graft group) including 13 cases(15knees),group B(cement reconstruction group) including 16 cases(19knees),group C(metal block group) 12 cases(14 knees).Record the preoperative and postoperative femoral and tibial angle, range of motion,KSS scores and function scores.Analyse statistically those data by a software named SPSS 19.0.Results: 41 cases(48 knees) were mean following-up for 21.2 months.Patients in three groups showed the similardistribution in terms of sex(P=0.607>0.05)and body mass index(P=0.108>0.05).However,patients with major defects were significantly older. The duration of follow-up was the same in those groups. The results of KSS and function score and ROM of knee at the last follow-up were significantly better than preoperative ones, with significant difference( P < 0. 05).No bone grafts failed to heal and no bone resorption was found. Only one case with DVT and one cases with translucid bands which were not developed gradually were found. The excellent and good rate of knee joint of group A was93.33%,group B was94.74%,group C was 92.86%,Conclusion:1.Patients had deformity of varus with the tibial medial side defect were almost over-weight.The service life of prostheses will be increased by lossing weight.2. Useing autologous bone graft, cement reconstruction and metal block to treat tibial defects of OA with varus result in good outcome.3.Combine the reconstruction of titial defects and sofe tissue balance technique chould more helpful to reconstruct the limb alignment and recover joint function.
