Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of electro-acupuncture at meridian sinew nodal point on lower limb paralysis in patients with ischemic stroke in acute stage.Method:Sixty patients with lower limb paralysis after acute ischemic stroke were randomized to the observation and control groups,30 cases in each group. The observation group was treated by electro-acupuncture at meridian sinew nodal point, while the control group was intervened by conventional electro-acupuncture. Treatment was conducted for 2 weeks (seven days per-week and once a day). National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS), Muscle strength classification method, modified Ashworth rating scale, Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale and Brunnstrom stage of each participators in both groups were assessed two times (once at admission and once after the final intervention).Result:1.Before the treatment, the Statistical tests in National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS),Muscle strength classification method, modified Ashworth rating scale, Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale and Brunnstrom stage between the two groups showed the P>0.05,no significant difference has comparability.2.After the treatment, the difference was statistically significant compared in each group(P<0.05).The two methods are effective for the treatment of lower limb paralysis in the acute stage of ischemic stroke.3.After the treatment, The difference of the National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS) and muscle strength curative effect of observation group and control group was not statistically significant(P>0.05). The difference of the modified Ashworth rating scale, Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale and Brunnstrom stage between the observation group and the control group was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the curative effect of acupuncture meridian sinew nodal group is better than the traditional acupuncture point group.Conclusion:1.Acupuncture meridian sinew nodal group and traditional acupuncture point group both can improve the muscle strength, muscle tension, nerve function and motor function of the lower limb in acute stage of ischemic stroke.2.There is no significant difference in the improvement of muscle strength and nerve function of lower limb between the acupuncture meridian sinew nodal group and the traditional acupuncture point group.3.The improvement of muscle tension and motor function of lower limb of Acupuncture meridian sinew nodal group is better than the traditional acupuncture point group in acute stage of ischemic stroke.
