Pain is one of the non-motor symptoms most frequency experienced by patients. The pathogensis underlying pain in PD is not clear and it is currently considered that pain is closely related to several factors. The risk factors for pain in PD include:age, gender, and duration of the disease. Pain in PD may be categoried into a number of different aubtypes. Increased understanding of basal ganglia pathways has provided further insights into the pathogensis of pain in PD, but the exact mechanism of pain remains unclear. This paper reviews the possible pathogenesis, risk factoes and classification for pain in PD.
