ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of additive alanyl-glutamine on patients with gastric cancer who underwent preoperative parenteral nutrition support and provide a reference for patients to choose a appropriate nutrition support protocol. Nutritional status, immune function and postoperative complications were assessed. MethodsProspectly analyzed 62 patients with gastric cancer from 2011 January to 2014 January, 27 cases are treated with the parenteral nutrition support with additive alanyl-glutamine while the other 35 cases were given the ordinary parenteral nutrition support. Patients of the alanyl-glutamine nutrition group were giv-en alanyl-glutamine in addition. Examined the nutriture(ALB,PAB,TF) and immune function indicators(CD-3,CD4,CD8,CD4/C-D8,Ig A,Ig G,Ig M) of patients, on the operation day morning or the day before operation, and about seven days after operation. Examined the inflammatory indicators(CRP) of the patients in each group about seven days after operation., and made statistics of the patients’ average length of stay and postoperative complication. Measurement data was compared by independent sample t-test, and the enumeration data was compared by χ test.ResultsAfter the preoperative parenteral nutrition support, the PAB of the control group and experimental group increased, and the differences were statistically significant(p<0.05). However, their ALB and TF had no significant difference from before. The ALB, PAB and TF of the experimental group were higher than that of the control group after operation, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). There was no significant difference among the two groups’ pre-hospital and preoperative indicators of humoral immune function(Ig A,Ig G,Ig M) and cellular immune function(CD3,CD4,CD8,CD4/CD8)(P>0.05). However, after operation, immune indicators of the patients of the experimental group were higher than that of the control group, and the differences were significant(P<0.05). The experimental group’s postoperative incidence rate of infectious complications, inflammatory indicators(CRP) after operation and postoperative average length of stay were all lower than that of the control group, and the differences were all significant(P<0.05). ConclusionsTo the gastric cancer patients, the perioperative parenteral nutrition support with additive alanyl-glutamine can sinigficantly improve their nutritional status, significantly reduce inflammatory reaction, regulate immune function, reduce perioperative complication, while increase no average length of stay. So it is worthy to be widely used in clinical practice.
