Purpose: To detect the serum food-specific IgG(fs-IgG) in patients with functional dyspepsia(FD), and to explore the relationship between food intolerance and FD.Methods: Eighty-five cases of FD patients were enrolled in this study according to the Rome III standard of diagnosis. The serum fs-IgG were tested by ELISA method, and the relationship between the fs-IgG and gastrointestinal symptoms was analysised. Results: Of 85 cases of FD patients,48(56.5%) had positive fs-IgG, in which 1 kind of fs-IgG positive accounted for 60.4%, and 2 and more than 2 kinds accounted for 39.6%. Positive rate of Eggs- and milk- IgG, were 68.8% and 22.9% respectively. The positive rate of fs-IgG in PDS and EPS was 50.0% and 63.4% respectively(t = 1.554, p = 0.213). The abdominal pain symptoms was more serious in fs-IgG negative patients than in the positive(t=2.201,p=0.031), and there was no correlation between fs-IgG drops and total symptom scores(r=0.183,P=0.213). The serum fs-IgG drops had no correlation neither with serum Ig E(r=0.231, P=0.132),nor with blood EOS counts(r=0.116, P=0.465). The fs-IgG drops were negative correlation with height(B=-0.558, P = 0.032) and BMI(B=-2.132, P = 0.036), and were positive correlation with body weight(B=0.785, P = 0.034). Symptoms had improved in some patients after eliminating suspicious food diet. Conclusions: About half of patients exist FI, which likely have a less extent of abdominal pain, and excluding suspicious food can make some patients symptom relief.
