The Parochetus communis Buch. have been used in traditional hmong medicine in Guizhou, another name are blood grass, a blood. All P. communis species are herbaceous perennials and are widely distributed in valley meadow about 1800 m from Bijie, Puan of Guizhou, Yunnan, Myanmar, India, Islamic Lanka, Indonesia. The P. communis has sour, astringent, warm, and they are used for kidney, traumatic hemorrhage, traumatic fractures, trauma, fever, edema, injury, etc. It has a unique curative effect in treating canker. The paper has studied the chemical composition of n-butanol extract from the plant. It was isolated and purified by acetylation method, silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. The structural of compounds were identified by EI-MS, ESI-MS, 1HNMR, 13 CNMR, DEPT spectroscopic techniques, combining with physiccal and chemical properties.Nine compounds were isolated and identified from n-butanol extract of Parochetus communis Buch. They are β-sitosterol(Ⅰ), 1-Triacontanol( Ⅱ), Medicarpin( Ⅲ), Pratol( Ⅳ), neophytadiene( Ⅴ), ononin( Ⅵ), 3’,6-dimethoxy-5’-hydroxyisoflavone-7-O-β-D-glucoside( Ⅶ),afrormosin-7-O-β-D-glu coside( Ⅷ), formononetin( Ⅸ). All compounds were isolated the first from the gorse plant.Extraction technology of isoflavone in Parochetus communis Buch. have been studied with single factor and orthogonal experiments. Effects of extraction solvent, the concentration of extraction solvent, the extraction time, solid-liquid ratio on extraction rate of isoflavones were investigated. The content of isoflavones under different extraction conditions was measured by ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The optimum extraction conditions for Parochetus communis Buch isoflavones were established as follows: 65% methanol(V/V) as solvent, solid-liquid ratio 1:40(W/V),reflux extraction at 90 ℃ for 2 times and 2 h for each time. The extraction rate of isoflavones in Parochetus communis Buch was 2.38% under above-mentioned optimum extraction procession.
