[Method]To collect the data of the local population and the dead by adopting the death cause of survey methodology. Describe and make a comparison among burden of disease and the mortality rate with the help of Excel 2003 and SPSS17.0 software. [Results]1、The residents’ mortality rate of digestive diseases in Zhangjiajie, Hunan from 2007 to 2009 was 16.07 per 100000, turn after circulatory system diseases, respiratory diseases, cancer, injuries and poisoning. the mortality rate and death number of digestive diseases reduced as time goes by. the mortality distribution in different age presents in a way which was gradually rising after an initial drop, and rising values significantly, as it expressed as“√”shape; the female and male crude mortality were 14.14 per 100000, 17.89 per 100000,with the age-standardized mortality were 12.01 per 100000 and 14.15 per 100000; the lowest was in Yongding District, 7.89 per 100000 and 6.78 per 100000; and the highest mortality and the standardized mortality was in Sangzhi County, 25.90 per 100000 and 21.12 per 100000 respectively, The most two primary digestive diseases among the dead were peptic ulcer and gastritis, with mortality rates of 4.36 per 100000 and 3.46 per 100000, respectively.2、PYLL、APYLL、PYLL‰ and WPYLL、AWPYLL、WPYLL‰ caused by digestive diseases during the three years of 2007 to 2009 were lower in women than in men, and the indexes of PYLL ‰ and WPYLL ‰ in women(0.90 ‰,0.19 ‰ respectively) were lower than that in men(2.18‰,0.72‰respectively) during the period; Sangzhi County scored the highest in PYLL‰(2.22‰) and WPYLL‰(1.07‰) during the period; and the lowest was in Yongding District, PYLL‰(0.81‰) and WPYLL‰(0.40‰); the indexes mentioned above were in a trend of declining before going up; WPYLL‰ and PYLL‰ caused by death from Liver fibrosis and cirrhosis were highest, at 0.75‰ and 0.44‰respectively. [Conclusion]1、The digestive diseases are among the most influential diseases which influence the health of Zhangjiajie residences, the mortality rate and the number of death reduced as time goes by, and the distribution of mortality rate in different ages shaped“√”character, the old should be taken as the high risk groups, and showed an increasing trend with the elderly age; and the mortality rate among women was lower than it among men, the Sangzhi County had the highest mortality rate; Peptic ulcer ranked first among all the other death causes, following by gastritis.2、PYLL and WPYLL caused by digestive system among residents living in Zhangjiajie went down in this three years. Female suffered less than male in the burden of diseases at the county level, Sangzhi County suffered the tougher disease burden than other three counties, and we should pay the greatest attention to Sangzhi County when taking measures to prevent and treat digestive diseases.
