Objective:1. To observe and explore the correlation of bone mineral density and bone metabolism indexes and its clinical significance in patient with osteoporosis.2. To observe and explore the correlation of bone mineral density and bone metabolism indexes and its clinical significance in patient with low bone mass.3. To observe and explore the correlation of bone metabolism indexes and menopause.Methods:1. From the patients of the Endocrinology Outpatient Department in our hospital, during June, 2014 to April, 2015 we chose 558 cases with osteoporosis or low bone mass. They were all at least eighteen years old, without rheumatic diseases, blood diseases, renal insufficiency and endocrine diseases including diabetes, thyroid diseases and Cushing’s Syndrome, and without long-term use of medicines that may affect bone metabolism, such as glucocorticoid, estrogen, estrogen analogues, diuretic, etc. All the patients have neither hip replacement nor lumbar implants. We kept a record of whether the patients had been diagnosed osteoporosis and other bone metabolism-influencing diseases as well as relevant data inluding sex, age, height, weight, smoking history, alcohol abuse history and menopause information.2. The patients had gone through fasting for 8 to 12 hours before 5ml blood samples were collected in anticoagulation tubes via cubital veins. The upper layers of the serum after centrifugation were seperated and stored in-40℃ refrigerator. Then they were tested with OC, PTH, PINP Elisa diagnostic kits(manufactured by Shanghai Qiao Du Biotechnology Co.Ltd, China) and measured the content of 25(OH)D with HPLC-MS/MS automatic biochemical analyzer(LST003, Beijing).3. The bone mineral density data of lumbar vertebra and bilateral femoral neck wasdetected by the dual X-ray absorptiometry manufactured by Hologic Inc., America.4. After selecting the alternative population by the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were 224 cases with osteoporosis and 186 cases with low bone mass. We chose 100 healthy cases as the control group without control of sex. Among the whole study population, there are 376 women cases including 170 premenopausal cases and 206 postmenopausal cases.. All the collected data was processed and analyzed by SPSS 22.0.Results were expressed as X +-s. Comparision between groups was calculated by independent sample t-test. P<0.05 means the difference is statistically significant.Results:1.The lumbar vertebra bone mineral density values are bringing down with increasing age.2.The lumbar vertebra bone mineral density values of osteoporosis group and low bone mass group are both significantly lower than that of control group(P<0.05).3.The bone mineral density value of postmenopausal group is significantly lower than that of premenopausal group(P<0.05).4.The P1 NP values of osteoporosis group and low bone mass group are both significantly lower than that of control group, and the OC values are both significantly higher than that of control group(P<0.05). But the differences of PTH, 25(OH)D values between the test group and control group have no statistical significance.5. The P1 NP and OC values of postmenopausal group are significantly higher than those of premenopausal group(P<0.05), the differences of PTH, 25(OH)D values between the test group and control group have no statistical significance.Conclusions:1.The lumbar vertebra bone mineral density values are bringing down with increasing age.As a result that we should increase our bone mineral density test in the elder population for the aim at detection early, diagnosis early and treatment early.2. Some bone metabolism indexes, like BMD and OC,are correlated with bone mineral density better, and can display the changes of bone metabolism better. The indicators canhelp comprehensively evaluate osteoporosis in each stage.3. The bone metabolism indexes, like BMD and OC,can display the changes of bone metabolism better in postmenopausal women and premenopausal women.4. The bone metabolism indexes, like BMD and OC,with better sensitivitity and accuracy in the diagnosis and treatment process.
