Objective:To investigate the safety and effectivity of common catheter to promotecervical ripening for labour induction. Methods:During May 2013 to May 2014, 106 primiparas who had indications for labor induction and Bishop score ≤6 score were chose. The observation group with 50 ones used water ballon with common catheter to promote cervical ripening, took out catheter next day, and aritificial ruptured of membranes or(and) gave oxytoein by intravenous drip in right time. The control group with 56 ones was given oxytoein by intravenous drip. Cervical score before labour induction, cervical score after water ballon taken, effective of labour induction, labor induced to labor time, labor to the time of the first stage in labor, the way of delivery, and newborn Apgar score was observed between two groups. Results:1.There are significant differences(P<0.05) between observation group andcontrol group in effective rate of promotion cervical ripening, cervical score before labour induction, the rate of vaginal delivery, labor induced to labor time, and the time of the first stage in labor.2.There are no significant differences(P>0.05) between observation groupand control group in newborn Apgar score. Conclusions:It is safety and effectivity to use common catheter to promote cervical ripening. It can improve the rate of vaginal delivery, however, reduce the rate of uterine-incision delive.
