Objective: In order to make the elderly patients more safe and comfortable during ERCP, we design this experiment to find an ideal method of anesthesia for the elders via the comparison of observational indexes after administration of different anesthetic drugs during ERCP. Methods: 60 cases of patients undergoing ERCP, ASA I ~ II, were randomly divided into three groups: Dexmedetomidine group(group D), propofol group(group P) and midazolam group(group M) with 20 cases in each group. The patients in each group of three groups were given different anesthetic drugs respectively. Observing and recording HR, MAP, SpO2 and the levels of plasma E and NE of the patients at different time points; Adverse reactions were also recorded during the operation. Results: The hemodynamics of patients in group D is more stable than group P and in group M. The levels of plasma epinephrine and norepinephrine of subjects in group D is lower than those in group P and group M. Adverse reactions occurred in the group D was lower than those of group P and group M. Conclusion: The use of Dexmedetomidine combined fentanyl in elders during ERCP make hemodynamics more stable. And stress response is effectively controlled during ERCP. Furthermore, Dexmedetomidine compounded fentanyl can reduce the incidences of adverse reaction. The combination of Dexmedetomidine and fentanyl is an ideal anesthesia method for elderly patients undergoing ERCP.
