Objective: To observe and record the impact of early enteral nutrition support for postoperative patients who suffering severe heart valve disease. Methods: 68 severe heart valve patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group after operation. The treatment group accepted early enteral nutrition within 24-48 hours after admission to ICU, meanwhile the control group received parenteral nutrition. The mechanical ventilation time, nutrition and biochemical indexes, liver and renal function, the average ICU days and expenses were compared between the two groups. Results: Compared with control group, the prealbumin PA(0.35±±0.06 vs0.25±0.06,P<0.05)mg/L and nitrogen balance(1.35±0.18 vs-3.37±1.45,P<0.05)(g) is much higher in treatment goup, the liver function(AST 83.3±17.9/ALT 73.5±13.5 vs AST 113.3±12.9/ALT75.9±16.5,P<0.05)(μ/L)is much lower in treatment goup. The average ICU hospitalization expenses is much lower in treatment group(5.8±1.2 vs6.9±1.5,P<0.05)one thousand Yuan/day, number of days(2.2±1.2 vs 3.1±1.5,P<0.05).Conclusion: Early enteral nutrition can improve the nutritional status of severe patients, and improve the negative nitrogen balance, Early enteral nutrition can reduce the incidence of complications in patients, Early enteral nutrition can shorten the average hospitalization days in the ICU and reduce the cost in hospital.
