Analysis Of Death Causes In Xi An Children’s Hospital Between The Year 2008 To 2012

Objective To analysis the tendency and characteristics on the cause of death in Xian children’s hospital from 2008 to 2012,and to give some specific advices on decreasing the children death.Methods All causes of death in Xian children’ s hospital from2008 to 2012 were statistically analyzed and classified by ICD-10(International Classification of Diseases).The differences of death cause in gender distribution,age distribution,the rank order of death cause were analyzed between children’s hospital, general hospital, Xi ’an child deaths.Results There were 663 causes of death in Xi’an Children’s Hospital,with a male to female ratio of 1.62. There were 61 causes of death in Central Hospital of Xi’an,with a male to female ratio of 3.36. There were 2562 causes of death in Xi’an,with a male to female ratio of 1.68. The most of the highest degree of diagnosis was clinical and laboratory diagnosis.Most causes of death happened in the ward of the hospital.The leading 3 causes of death in Xi’an Children’s Hospital were disease of the respiratorysystem(23.07%),infectious diseases(15.69%),certain conditions originating in the perinatal period(13.57%). The leading 3 causes of death in Central Hospital of Xi’an were accident injury(29.51%),certain condition originating in the perinatal period(18.03),congenital malformations(13.11%). Children in different ages died for different reasons.In neonatal group and the group of 29 days to 1 year old, pneumonia was the main cause of death. In the group of 1 to 7 years old,infectious diseases and accident injury were the main cause of death. In the school-age group,malignant tumors was the main causes of death. In Xi’an Children’s Hospital the delaying report rate of death cases is 1.21%,the pass rate is 91.70%.In Central Hospital of Xi’an,there is no delaying report of death case, the pass rate is 96.72%.Conclusion Based on the characteristics of death cause of children from different age groups,different control measures should be taken. To improve the quality of death report network by adding item of abandoned infant information in death monitoring system and strengthen the quality training of physicians are suggested.
