In recent years,working pressure has been the social concerns.With the proceeding of new health care reform,expectations and requirements of patients and their family members and the whole society for medical staff has been gradually increased. The ICU medical staff who work in the front line dealing with critically ill patient are faced with severe working pressure due to the particularity of their profession and working environment.Heavy tasks,long working hours,high technical requirements and medical risk and completely closed working environment with no natural light all makes their norm of working pressure beyond the national level.How to regulate their stress to prevent it from being aggravated becomes the focus of sociologists.This paper makes a research on the situation of ICU medical staff in People’s Hospital of Guizhou through questionnaire and case interviews under the instruct of social exchange theory,social role theory and organizational support theory,and the use of work stress index model from the perspective of sociology and social psychology.Firstly,it gets the knowledge of the condition of the stress of ICU medical staff.To be specific,the norm of their working pressure beyond the national level;the degrees of stress are different because of gender difference,marital status,nature of business and other aspects;the degrees of relevance and significance before OSI-R scale 14 indicators are different.By multiple regression analysis,the main factors that lead the ICU medical staff to make nervous response in Giuzhou Provincial People’s Hospital are task conflicts,responsibility,task ambiguity and work environment.Then,based on the survey data and interviews,it makes a detailed analysis on the cause of working pressure of ICU medical staff in People’s Hospital of Guizhou.The main reasons are imperfect health care reform system in transition of Chinese society,uncoordinated organization and management,overloaded work and the intense interpersonal relationship.Finally,it proposes coping strategies from these perspectives of medical staff,organization,management, government and society.This research is done in hope of enriching the study on the work stress of ICU medical staff and making some contribution to solving the problems of ICU medical staff in Guizhou Provincial People’s Hospital.
