Objective Chemokines play an important role in the occurrence and development of diabetic foot. CXCL16 is a new chemokine which was discovered recently. CXCL16 plays an important role in a variety of inflammation, vascular disease and neuropathy disease, but there was little paper reports the correlation between CXCL16 and diabetic foot. This observation is to discuss the correlation between serum soluble CXCL16 and diabetic foot. Methods 1 From January 2013 to December 2014, a total of 164 diabetics who hospitalized in the North China University of Science and Technology were evaluated in our study, which including 74 diabetes mellitus alone(control group) and 90 diabetic foot patients(case group). The serum concentrations of CXCL16 were detected by Enzymelinked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). All individuals’ general clinical data were recorded and compared. With high CXCL16 level as the exposure factor, the correlation between high CXCL16 level and diabetic foot was analyzed. Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the influence factors of diabetic foot. 2 Diabetic foot patients were divided into ischemic diabetic foot group and non-ischemic diabetic foot group according to diabetic foot patients’ ischeamia situation. The association between CXCL16 and ischemic diabetic foot was analyzed by the same methods. Results 1 The serum CXCL16 concentrations of case group were significantly higher than the control group(P<0.01). When diabetes patients’ serum CXCL16 level greater than1.72μg/L, they had a 4.39 times danger than those lower than 1.72μg/L. Logistic regression analysis showed that, with the serum CXCL16 concentration and plasma fibrinogen concentration gradually increased, the risk of diabetic foot increases. CXCL16 and fibrinogen are the risk factors of diabetic foot. 2 Ischemic diabetic foot patients’ serum CXCL16 concentrations were significantly higher than non-ischemic diabetic foot patients’(P<0.01). When diabetic foot patients’ serum CXCL16 level greater than 2.04μg/L,they had a 6.09 times danger than those lower than 2.04μg/L. Logistic regression analysis showed that, with the serum CXCL16 concentration and plasma fibrinogen concentration gradually increased, the hemoglobin and total bilirubin concentration decreased, the risk of diabetic foot increases. CXCL16 and fibrinogen are the risk factors of ischemic diabetic foot. The bilirubin and hemoglobin are the protective factors of ischemic diabetic foot. Conclusions 1 There is a positive correlation between serum CXCL16 and diabetic foot.To some extent, serum CXCL16 promote the occurrence and development of diabetic foot.2 There is a positive correlation between serum CXCL16 and the degree of ischemia of diabetic foot.
