The Curative Effect Of Needle Knife Combined With Acupuncture Treatment Of Pirifomis Syndrome

Objectives To observe the clinical effect of the method of acupuncture combined with needle knife for Piriformis Syndrome. This study aimed to make the method for this disease tend to be more standardized, systematic and then provide a definite curative effect, simple operation, safe and green method for the treatment of piriformis syndrome.Methods This research based on the mentors’ many years experience of piriformis syndrome treated by combination of acupuncture and acupotome on refractory.105 cases of intractable facial paralysis cases who meet the diagnostic criteria were randomly divided into three groups: treament group(combination therapy), control Group I(simple acupotome) and control group II(simple acupuncture). The acupotome selected points for the projection of piriformis(select the posterior superior iliac spine was A, the coccygeal tip to B point of greater trochanter of femur tip is C, the connection triangle surrounded by the 1/3 part in the connections of A, B and the C point).The acupuncture selected "ashi five points"(the center point for the pear shaped body surface projection area of the most tender spot, the remaining four points up and down about the open by 1.5 inches),and Fengshi(GB31), Yanglingquan(GB34), Xuanzhong(GB39) or Chengfu(BL36),Weizhong(BL40), Kunlun(BL60). The control group of "Songjin" set do as acupotome in the treatment group, and the control group of "Tongjing" set do as acupuncture in the treatment group. The patients had received acupotome treatment every 5 days but acupuncture treatment every day, 15 days for a course of treatment. Before and after treatment, The changes of scores that reflect symptoms and signs and the therapeutic index and clinical efficacy were observed systematically.Results There was no significant difference between the three groups for age, sex and course of disease before they received the treatment respectively(P>0.05), so the three groups are comparable;After the end of treatment, in improving signs and symptoms score, therapeutic index and clinical aspects: the combined group compared with the Songjin group, there was a significant difference(P<0.05);Combined group compared with tongjing group, there was a significant difference(P<0.05); songjin group compared with the tongjing group, there was no significant difference(P>0.05). As for the treatment group, 10 cases were cured, 13 cases were significantly effective, 11 cases were effectual and 1 case were unfruitful with a total effective rate is 97.14%; As for the Songjin group, 6 cases were cured, 10 cases were significantly effective, 12 cases were effectual and 7 cases were unfruitful with a with a total effective rate is 80.0%; As for the tongjing group, 7 cases were cured, 8 cases were significantly effective, 14 cases were effectual and 6 cases were unfruitful with a with a total effective rate is 82.86%. Total effective rate in the combined group is higher than the songjin group and the tongjing group. It means that the effect of acupuncture combined acupotome treatment of piriformis syndrome is the best.Conclusion Clinical control study is confirmed with the acupuncture combined acupotome treatment of piriformis syndrome has better clinical curative effect and workable, appropriate in clinical practice.
