Objectives This research mainly aimed at summarizing 1470 nm diode laser vaporization in treatment of BPH, and comparing with TURP to evaluate the efficacy and safety, what’s more, providing scientific basis for clinical application. Methods This project study BPH hospitalized from November 2012 to May 2013 in Hebei united university affiliated hospital urology and underwent 1470 nm diode laser vaporization or TURP, divided into two groups randomly, 42 cases of them underwent1470 nm diode laser vaporization and 42 cases for TURP. These markers results were recorded and analyzed, which includes such as operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative complications, international prostate symptom score(IPSS), quality of life(QOL), maximum flow rate(Qmax) and post-voiding residual urinary volume(PVR). Data were analyzed statistically to compare between the two groups. Results The differences were no significant between the two groups(P>0.05), which included age, course of the disease, prostate volume, PVR, Qmax, IPSS, QOL, sodium, hemoglobin. The mean time of operation for 1470 nm diode laser vaporization was less than that for TURP. The differences were significant between the two groups(P <0.05).The blood loss in operation, the time of bladder irrigating after operation, the time of catheterization and hospital stay after surgical therapy in 1470 nm diode laser groups were all less than that in TURP groups. The differences were significant between the two groups(P<0.01).The complications in 1470 nm diode laser groups such as secondary hemorrhage and TURS were less than that in TURP groups. The differences were significant between the two groups(P<0.05).There was a significant difference in two groups of patients compared with preoperative and postoperative. The differences were significant between the two groups(P < 0.01).Compared two groups of patients with postoperative curative effect comparison, the differences were no significant(P>0.05),which proved postoperative effect of the same. Conclusions 1470 nm semiconductor laser vaporization of the prostate can significantly improve the patient’s lower urinary tract obstruction symptoms, which showed similar near future effect with TURP. Compared with TURP, the former were better in operation, less bleeding, postoperative indwelling catheter time and shorter hospitalization time, rapid postoperative recovery and other advantages, suggesting that it is a safe and effective minimally invasive operation in BPH treatment.
