Objectives To investigate the relationship between resting heart rate(RHR) and metabolic syndrome(MS) in the healthy population in Kailuan Reseach. Methods A total of 101 510 employees of the Kailuan Group, who had data of RHR in health examination from 2006 to 2007, a total of 95963 of these subjects was enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Those who was not sinus rhythm, who had history of myocardial infarction or stroke and had no complete examination data was excluded, thus, a total of 87778 participants was finally included in the analysis. According to RHR data collected during health examinations in 2006–2007, these objects were divided into RHR<66,66~70,70~75,75~80,≥80 bpm group. The relationship between RHR and MS was estimated by multivariate logistic hazard regression model analysis. Results The prevalence rate of MS for RHR<66,66~70,70~75,75~80, ≥80 bpm group were 15.3%,18.6%,20.5%,22.4%,26.5%,respectively,and the corresponding prevalence rate for men and women in the five groups were respectively 13.4%,15.5%,17.3%,17.5%,23.0% and 15.8%,19.4%,21.4%,23.5%,27.3%.After the gender stratification, multivariate Logistic regression model analysis showed that compared with RHR first group, the other four RHR groups had an increased risk trend of MS after adjusting for age, BMI, UA, LDL-C,smoking and drinking. Spearman correlation analysis showed that, RHR and each MS component were positively correlated, and negatively correlated with HDL-C.Conclusions Increased RHR can induce higher risk of MS.
