Objectives This experiment was to study the relationship between IL-18,APN and cognitive function in type 2 diabetes mellitus(type 2 diabetes mellitus, T2DM) patients by testing the levels of serum interleukin 18(Interleukin,IL-18) and adiponectin(Adiponectin,APN), and discusses their influence factors respectively. Methods 1 subject Select 65 T2 DM patients of department II of endocrinology of tangshan gongren hospital as the case group, 36 cases of male, 29 cases of female and 50 cases of normal control people were selected from the medical examination center of of tangshan gongren hospital, 27 cases of male, 23 cases of female, age of two groups was matched. The case group was divided into IL-18-H, IL-18-L groups, according to whether IL-18 level is greater than its mean value, in the same way, adiponectin is divided into APN-H, APN-L groups. 2 methods Extracted elbow venous blood of all subjects.Detected Clinical indicators, such as FPG, Hb A1 c, TC, TG, HDL, LDL on the same day,and had a RBANS scale test. Formμlatedgeneral condition questionnaire, collecting general Information of the participants, include: gender, age, education degree, the course of the disease, body mass index. Measured serum levels of IL- 18 and APN by using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, the data above was analysed by SPSS 17.0.Resμlts 1 TG, FPG, Hb A1 c, IL-18 levels of the case group were higher than the control group, while the levels of HDL, APN were lower, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Other indicators had no statistical differences(P>0.05). 2 The score of mmediate memory, standard in case group were lower than control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05), Other cognitive project of the two groups had no statistical difference(P>0.05). 3 Score of Immediate memory, language, attention, delayed memory and standard of group IL-18-H were lower than group IL-18-L,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),except visuospatial/constructional score was not. Score of immediate memory, attention, and standard in group APN-H were higher, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),while the rests were not(P>0.05).4 IL-18 was positively correlated with age, FPG, Hb A1 c, and negatively correlated with APN and scores of immediate memory, language, attention, delayed memory and standard(P<0.05);APN was negatively correlated with Hb A1 c,IL-18,and was positively correlated with scores of immediate memory, attention and standard(P<0.05).5 With IL-18 as dependent variable, APN, gender, age, education degree, BMI, TC, TG, HDL, LDL and FPG, Hb A1 c,course of diseases as the independent variable, age, Hb A1 c, APN entered the regression equation;swapping position of IL-18 and APN,we see IL-18, TC entered the regression equation;in the same way, regarded the cognitive scores as dependent variable respectively, other factors as the independent variable, education degree, IL-18;course of the disease.age, education degree;Age, education degree,IL-18, APN;IL-18;age, education degree, IL-18,APN enter the equation respectively. Conclusions 1 There existed a state of inflammation in patients with type 2 diabetes, and with cognitive impairment, their serum levels of IL-18 was significantly higher, while APN level was significantly decreased. 2 With the increase of IL-18 levels and decrease of adiponectin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, the cognitive function was significantly decreased. 3 The potential mechanism of improving cognitive function for APN was antiinflammatory action.
