Objective: The paper aims at the use of data mining techniques in collection and classification for the prescription of Poststroke Syndrome between 2004 and 2013, and the exploration of the application rule of the basic prescription in the present treatment for it.Methods : To collect and sort out materials by China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and establish database by Excel 2007, and the software of SPSS Clementine 12.0 is taken in the application to utilize the frequency analysis, association rule analysis, cluster analysis;to discover the core drugs, commonly used drug classes, associated drug groups, basic syndrome elements, poly-drug group etc., as well as to make analysis and exploration about the results.Results: There are 207 prescriptions which are matched with the inclusion criteria, in which totally 186 traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). In the scope of these drugs, there are 20 core drugs which appeared in more than 30 times. Ranging them from high to low order, they are Astragalus Membranaceus, Angelica Sinensis, Ligusticum Chuanxiong, Pheretima, Semen Persicae, Carthamus Tinctorius, Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Salvia Miltiorrhiza, Achyranthes Bidentata, Scorpio, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis, Leeches, Spatholobus Suberectus, Acorus Tatarinowii, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Gastrodiae Elata, Arisaema Cum Bile, Scolopendra, Poria Cocos, and Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata. The main frequent formulations of these are Blood-Activating Stasis-Removing Drugs, Reinforcing Drugs, Liver Pacifying Wind Subduing Drugs, Wind-Damp Dispelling Drugs, Expectorant Antitussive Antiasthmetics, and Heat-Clearing Medicinal. The syndrome elements for poststroke include blood stasis, Qi deficiency, phlegm, kidney deficiency; and TCM syndromes cover Qi Deficiency and Blood Stasis, Intermingled Phlegm and Blood-Stasis, Kidney Deficiency and Blood Stasis, and Deficiency of Liver and Kidney.The 34 kinds of drugs appeared in more than 20 times,which can be divided into six poly-drug groups: Buyang Huanwu Decoction Drugs and the frequent use of Activating-Blood, Dredging-Collateralsa and Wind Subduing Drugs beyond it, Expectorant Drugs, Dispelling Wind and Dredging Collaterals Drugs, Benefiting Qi for Nourishing Yin Drugs, and Reinforcing Kidney Drugs. The main syndrome elements of apoplexy hemiplegia are blood stasis, Qi deficiency and kidney deficiency; and elements of hemiplegia after apoplexy include phlegm and kidney deficiency.Conclusion:1. Benefiting Qi for Activating Blood Circulation and Buyang Huanwu Decoction are prescribed frequently to cure Poststroke Syndrome at present.2. The main cure methods of Poststroke Syndrome are reinforcing Qi and activating blood, eliminating phlegm and removing blood stasis, and reinforcing liver and kidney.3. The main treatments of aphasia after stroke include reinforcing Qi and activating blood, and dredging collaterals and reinforcing kidney; and hemiplegia after apoplexy are eliminating phlegm, enlightening and reinforcing kidney.
