Research Of The Application Principle For Perspiration Syndrome Prescriptions Of Zhang Zhongjing

In the long history of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), the syndrome differentiation of perspiration syndrome has always been highly valued. On the one hand, it often appears as the primary symptom, on the other hand, when it comes as accompanied symptom, can provides new ideas for treating primary symptom through speculating the differences between the specific clinical manifestations. Up to today, the diagnosis and treatment scheme for perspiration syndrome has been very comprehensive, and be widely used by the doctors of TCM. However the content of medical textbooks and the accustomed theory both existing a lot of problems, if the doctors of TCM don’t envision it repeatedly, may negatively impact patient outcomes.Since the Han and the Tang Dynasty, Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases has been deeply elaborated from different angles by different annotators. The syndrome differentiation of perspiration syndrome has been halting, and lack of comprehensive and systematic research, but it’s been progress nonetheless. Therefore, in order to grasp the thoughts for the treatment of perspiration syndrome from Zhongjing, it is vital important to systematically analysis and sum up the exposition of Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases.Bibliography method was used in this paper, the edition of this study include Checking and Annotating on Treatise on Febrile by Liu Duzhou and Interpreting on Synopsis of Golden Chamber(second edition) by Li Keguang&Zhang Jiali. The main content is divided into the following sections.The first part is the literature review:(1) A simple overview of medical discourse around the perspiration syndrome from Tang and Song Dynasty to the Ming and qing dynasties, including expounding Zhang Zhongjing’s theory, such as partial content from Concise Exposition on Febrile Disease which is written by Cheng Wuji, and there are also some physicians developed Zhang Zhongjing’s theory, for example, Li Gao gave treatment to perineal sweating, Wang Qingren treat perspiration syndrome by removing blood stasis, and blood deficiency syndrome differentiation used by Tang Rongchuan. Besides, some physicians had their own system of theories of perspiration syndrome, as Sun Simiao believed wind causing sweat and viscera syndrome differentiation. However, there are lots of physicians simply think there are only two types of perspiration syndrome, spontaneous sweating caused by Yang deficiency, and night sweating caused by Yin deficiency. (2)Classify the contemporary related literature of Zhang Zhongjing’s treatment to perspiration syndrome, modern doctors research it from different angle, as etiology and pathogenesis, pathogens syndrome type classification, special perspiration syndrome, single proved recipe, etc. However, some weak links in the research were discovered, firstly, there is no research connect Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Synopsis of Golden Chamber, secondly, simply think spontaneous sweating caused by Yang deficiency, and night sweating caused by Yin deficiency, lastly, the exploration of the prescriptions application principle is insufficient.The second part is focus on the theoretical research:(1)From the perspective of word-formation explain the meaning of perspiration syndrome in Chinese, then limit the research category, by which contains all the sweating out of the exception is the floorboard of the symptoms of syndrome, especially for the patient should have sweat but can not, which is also an important part of the research. (2)Divide the perspiration syndrome from Treatise On Febrile Diseases and Synopsis of Golden Chamber into spontaneous perspiration, night sweating, head sweating, sweating of palms and soles, hemihidrosis, sweating of dying, giddy sweating, leaking sweating, manic sweating, shiver sweating, yellowish sweating, reddish sweating, perineal sweating and adiapneustia. Then combined with articles to discuss internal pathogenesis, in order to pave the way to tear down the application principle for perspiration syndrome prescriptions. (3)Take 36 different kinds of prescriptions as the main body, such as Guizhi Decoction, Baihu Decoction, Dachengqi Decoction. To explore the clinical differentiation of Syndromes character and mechanism of treatment, in order to provide material for inductive application principle of prescriptions. (4)Summarize previous research work, list seven key therapeutic agents in the treatment of perspiration syndrome—the cassia twig, gypsum, rhubarb, poria cocos, aconite, radix astragali, herba ephedra, and the Herb Pairs around them, and discusses their features and usage. In addition, also cited other methods for the treatment of perspiration syndrome.
